Everything you need to know about the Free-Wheeling Single Girl Sew-along prizes

You'd better sit down. Like now! We have some wonderful new sponsors on board this year and the prizes we have gathered together are truly incredible. So strap yourself in and read on.

Thanks to the generosity of the following businesses, this year the prizes are bigger and better than ever and there's even more chances to win.

Our 2019 quilt shop sponsors this year are:

If any of these stores are you local quilt shop, you can also drop in and pick up your Free-Wheeling Single Girl patterns and template sets too.

And this year suppliers of some of our favourite quilting essentials are also chipping in with some wonderful prizes. We are super grateful to:

The prizes

This year there are even more chances to win. Each week we will be adding to the fun and sprinkling glitter everywhere. We are giving away prizes every week, and sometimes there will be more than one winner.

Basically what you need to do is to give us an update on your Free-Wheeling Single Girl project on Instagram. You can post at any time and as many times as you like, but the deadline is midnight Sunday (Eastern Time) for each week of the sew-along.

For all sewists here in Australia, when you allow for the time difference the deadline works out to be 2pm on the Monday.

Important stuff!

  1. You must use the #freewheelingsinglegirl19 hashtag. Denyse, myself, the team at Sewtopia, plus the rest of the sew-along family will be checking it daily.  If you don't use it there is a good chance we wont find you.
  2. Your Instagram account must be public. If you have a private Instagram account we can't see you. Think about making it public during the sew-along, or even set up a separate one where you only post content that you are happy to share with the world.

Week 1

In the first week (September 16 - 22) you could win a $25 gift voucher from our friends at Craft South,

plus a $25 gift voucher to spend on quilting rulers from Silly Moon Quilting Co.

To be in with a chance to win you will need to post a picture of your fabric pull no later than midnight ET 21 September.

Week 2

Its time to start sewing, and this week (September 23 - 29) we will be getting our improv on as we start to piece some arcs.

This week's prize is brought to you by our friends at Purl Soho, who are giving away a FQ bundle of their divine yarn-dyed Watercolour Linens. There are 19  glowing shades, and every last one would be a joy to add to the stash.

For a chance to win these lovely linens you will need to make at least 4 arcs (that's one ring worth) and share a picture on Instagram by midnight ET 29 September.

There's no need to sew your blocks together into rings just yet, as it will give you more flexibility in playing with your layout and the distribution of colour and fabrics in the weeks ahead.

Week 3

This week  (30 September - 6 October) we will be sewing the inside and outside back ground pieces to our improv arcs we made last week. Don't stress about sewing those curves as they are really gentle and we have lots of techniques and hints to share.

This week Denyse is giving away the most amazing bundle of inspiring quilt patterns. Once lucky person will receive a copy of EVERY SINGLE digital pattern in the DSQuilts catalogue. And yes, I did mean to shout that ;-)

You can take a closer look at Denyse's inspiring array of patterns here.

For a chance to win the DSQuilts mother-load, post a picture of four completed blocks (that's just 4 quarter rings) to Instagram by midnight ET 6 October.

Of course if you are on a roll, the more blocks the merrier.

Week 4

This week (7 - 13 October) we will continue to piece arcs and complete more blocks.  Aim to make at least another 4 quarter rings if making the baby quilt, but more if you are working on a larger size.

Alewives Fabrics have sponsored this week's prize and are giving away a carefully curated Rosewood fabric bundle. There are 14 FQs: 10 have been gathered together from a number of Denyse's collections, plus four coordinating Tana lawns from Liberty of London. And as if that wasn't enough they are also including a $50 gift  certificate.

To be in the running for this lovely, lovely bundle from Alewives Fabrics post a picture of at least 8 completed blocks, (two rings worth) by the last tick of the clock on Sunday 13 October 2019.

Week 5

October 14 - 20 is catch up week. Just keep sewing and aim to finish at least another 4 blocks.

Your prize this week is from our friends at Crimson Tate. They are giving away a roll of African Wax block prints. There's 42 different, joyful fabrics; perfect for your next Free-Wheeling Single Girl quilt, don't you reckon?

To be the winner of this week's prize, post a photo of at least 12 blocks, or 3 completed rings on Instagram no later than midnight ET, Sunday 20 October.

Week 6

This week (October 21 - 27) we will be finishing up so make sure you take a moment to enjoy the variety and creativity on the #freewheelingsinglegirlsal19 hashtag. But then run to your machine because you wont want to miss out on the chance to win this week!

If making the baby quilt, aim to complete your quilt top with the borders attached. If you are making one of the larger sizes you need to post a picture of at least 6 completed rings. Don't forget to pat yourself on the back and post a picture before midnight ET Sunday 27 October.

Our grand prize pool is absolutely incredible. As fabulous as all those goodies in the first 5 weeks are, they were just a warm up for what's going down this week.
